How a furnisher deletes an account

Postby ChrisGreen » Mon Jul 28, 2014 1:57 pm

Some furnishers imply they need to undertake an arduous process to delete an account from being reported to a credit reporting bureau. This is not the case, all that is necessary is for a furnisher to enter “DA” into Field 17A (Account Status Field) to delete the entire account for reasons other than fraud. (“DF” is entered to delete for fraud). Credit Reporting Resources Guide pages 6-12 (Frequently Asked Question 17) and 5-15 (Exhibit 4) (2013).
