Feferman & Warren
Feferman & Warren is the pre-eminent law firm in the southwest devoted to protecting consumers. Its three lawyers work full time in this field, and all of them are trial lawyers.
The firm handles a wide variety of individual and class action consumer cases throughout New Mexico, as well as in Colorado and Arizona. Most of the firm's cases are federal lawsuits against credit reporting agencies, car dealers, debt collectors, and lenders. It also brings cases against mobile home dealers, mortgage companies, realtors, and other businesses which defraud consumers.
The firm litigated the national precedent-setting federal court decision Dimezza v. First USA Bank, Inc. et al., 103 F. Supp.2d 1296 (D.N.M. 2000) (upholding private right of action against creditor or furnisher of inaccurate information for credit report).
In 1999, the firm was nominated for Trial Lawyers of the Year at Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, for its $669,000 jury verdict against a New Mexico car dealer for odometer fraud and tortious debt collection practices.
Richard N. Feferman is the founding partner. Mr. Feferman is a 1971 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. He edited and co-authored Consumer Law in New Mexico, published by the New Mexico State Bar Association. Mr. Feferman produced the first two Fair Credit Reporting Act conferences for the National Association of Consumer Advocates.
Mr. Feferman also is a nationally known speaker and author on matters of law practice management. Feferman wrote Building Your Firm with Associates (American Bar Association Press).
Susan M. Warren joined the firm in 1996. She graduated from Harvard Law School in 1990. Ms. Warren has obtained numerous six-figure damage awards in trials and settlement.
Robert D. Treinen came to Feferman & Warren in 2001. He graduated from Minnesota Law School in 1999. Mr. Treinen already has a $300,000 arbitration award to his credit, following trial against a dishonest mobile home dealer.
