Hyung S. Choi is a founding partner of the consumer protection law firm Choi & Fabian, PLC. The firm has offices in Tempe and Flagstaff. The attorneys in the law firm have successfully handled hundreds of consumer protection cases against credit reporting bureaus, banks, car dealers, mortgage companies, and insurance companies throughout Arizona. All of the cases processed under the Fair Credit Reporting Act are handled on contingent basis.
Mr. Choi received Juris Doctorate, from the Arizona State University College of Law, graduating cum laude in 1993. He also holds Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from General Motors Institute.
Mr. Choi worked as an engineer for General Motors Corporation prior to attending law school. After graduating from the law school, Mr. Choi worked as a civilian procurement attorney for the United States Department of Navy in Washington, D.C. In 1996, Mr. Choi opened his own law office. His practice is primarily focused on civil trial practice with emphasis on consumer protection.
Despite having immigrated to the United States from South Korea at the age of 14, and learned English language thereafter, Mr. Choi has a track record of winning in front of the jury, Arizona Superior Courts, Arizona Court of Appeals and the United States District Court. His successes can be found at the following cases published in the law books. Howell v. Midway Holdings, Inc., 362 F.Supp.2d 1158 (Ariz. 2005) (lawsuit against dealer and finance company for forgery and Fair Credit Reporting Act violations); Uhlig v. Berge Ford, 257 F.Supp.2d 1228 (Ariz. 2003) (lawsuit against dealer under Fair Credit Reporting Act for impermissible access); Winkler v. WFS Financial, Inc (class action lawsuit against dealer and finance company for odometer tampering); and Garden Lakes Community Association v. Madigan, 204 Ariz. 238, 62 P.2d 983 (Ariz. App. 2003) (successfully defended homeowners' rights to install solar panels).
Mr. Choi gives lectures to attorneys and consumer groups on consumer protection issues. The attorneys at Mr. Choi's law firm are admitted to practice in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Oregon, Navajo Nation, United States District Court in Arizona, and United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
